Nine pianos have been donated, decorated, and installed in village centers for everyone’s enjoyment from now until Labor Day. Each piano is a centerpiece of music, art, and community, providing opportunities for residents to connect with their creativity and with each other through planned events and impromptu concerts. The pianos are located in Auburndale, West Newton, Nonantum, Newton Corner’s Farlow Park, Newton Center, Upper Falls, Newton Highlands, Waban, and City Hall.
The Artful Pianos project is sponsored by Newton Community Pride and M. Steinert & Sons and is organized by Newton Cultural Development. Each piano was donated by a local resident and decorated by an artist selected by jury, and they are tended by a team of piano “pals” in each location.
