The Public Safety and Transportation Committee is set to approve the appointment of Greg Gentile as our new Fire Chief. Chief Gentile has been serving as Assistance Chief since 2020, and “is a life-long Newton resident and third-generation Newton firefighter”. (See p. 59 of the Agenda).
The Chief may also be on hand to discuss a $1,625,000 appropriation request from Free Cash to fund Fire Rescue Overtime. (See p. 61 of the Agenda and Free Cash Expenditure List)
