As a long-time Newton resident and environmental activist, I am proud to endorse the following candidates running in contested races for Newton City Council: Garry Miller (Ward 5), as well as three At-Large candidates: Sean Roche (Ward 6), Cyrus Dahmubed (Ward 4) and Josh Krintzman (Ward 4). We need these exceptionally strong leaders to ensure that Newton’s Climate Action Plan meets all the necessary criteria to reduce our community’s greenhouse reduction goals.
Each of these outstanding candidates will stand firm for our community in its ongoing transition to clean energy sources and the elimination of widespread natural gas leaks.
Garry, Cyrus, Sean, and Josh will prioritize all opportunities to reduce greenhouse emissions and protect our natural resources, while investing in our parks, recreational areas and other open spaces. They will also support progress to be made for recycling / composting and other ways to reduce waste.
We need leaders that can be counted on to vigorously work toward achieving Newton’s resiliency in the face of climate-related crises by promoting clean energy solutions and environmental sustainability throughout our community, and to ensure that Newton remains a leader in addressing climate change. For these reasons and more, I hope Newton residents will join me in voting for Garry, Cyrus, Sean, and Josh for City Council on November 4.
