Newton Community Development Foundation (NCDF) awards $10,000 in scholarships

The Newton Community Development Foundation (NCDF) initiated the NDCF Scholarship Program this year and has awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships to five exceptional individuals. NCDF was established in 1968 to provide affordable housing solutions for the community, and it remains committed to fostering community development, not only by providing affordable housing but also by investing in the educational aspirations of its residents. The scholarship program exemplifies the foundation’s commitment to supporting educational pursuits with a focus on its residents’ opportunities for financial growth.

NCDF has designed the program to be inclusive and supportive of a wide range of educational pathways, including high school equivalency courses, trade schools, certificate programs, as well as two-year, four-year, and graduate college/university programs.

The program is open to NCDF residents who are either high school seniors transitioning to their next level of education or adult residents pursuing further educational opportunities. With a strong emphasis on community involvement and support, the NCDF Scholarship Program strives to make higher education accessible to all eligible candidates.

In this inaugural year, NCDF received nine applications from residents across four of its properties. The selection committee chose to award $2,000 scholarships to each of five outstanding individuals who exemplify the spirit of the program, demonstrating dedication to personal growth, community betterment, and the pursuit of their educational aspirations.

This scholarship program is one of the many ways NCDF supports its community, helping individuals achieve their dreams and contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Newton community.
