Emmanuel Owusu, co-founder of African Bridge Network, honored for DEI work

Newton resident Emmanuel Owusu was honored last week with a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Award from the Association for Developmental Disabilities Providers (ADDP), a statewide association representing community-based human services providers.

Owusu is the Executive Director of Newton-based African Bridge Network, which he and four others co-founded in 2015 to build a supportive environment for African and other skilled immigrants in Massachusetts, helping them leverage their foreign educational degrees and experience to reach their employment potential.

The African Bridge Network increases access to information resources, career support, networking opportunities, and social capital for highly educated and skilled immigrants, many of whom provide a wide range of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities including autism through the network’s Untapped Talent Consortium program.

ADDP represents 134 human service organizations across Massachusetts that provide a wide range of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) including autism, and to individuals who have brain injuries. ADDP’s mission is to promote and ensure the strength of its community-based providers to improve access, quality, and the value of services in the community.
