Newton residents in the news

Setti Warren, former Mayor of Newton, has been named Executive Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He had been serving in that role on an interim basis. Previously, he was Executive Director of the Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy.

Toni Hicks, a public interest attorney, has been elected to be president of the board of the Charles River Watershed Association. Her previous roles include Director for Public Service and Pro Bono at Boston University School of Law and founding Director of the Senior Fellows Program at Conservation Law Foundation. She is a volunteer nonprofit consultant with Empower Success Corps, where she also serves on the board and co-chairs the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging committee.

Five Newton South High School students were named as Boston Herald All-Scholastic athletes: Amelia Everett for Girls Track, Maddy Genser for Girls Basketball, Amelie Hirst for Gymnastics, Freya Munshi for Wrestling, Rebecca Morrow for Gymnastics.
