The League of Women Voters / Newton will host their second LWV Newton Civics Challenge on Sunday, April 30, 4PM-6PM in the Cabot Elementary School cafeteria. It’s a free event, open to adults and students in Grades 8 and above. Individuals and teams of up to four people may register here to compete for prizes by answering questions about federal, state and local government, the constitution, voting rights, current events, and history.
In the first LWV Newton Civics Challenge, on March 1, 2020, nine teams — family and community groups, middle school, high school, and college students, teachers from NSHS, and local media — competed in a contest emceed by City Councilor Josh Krintzman and former Alderman Brooke Lipsitt. They will emcee once again for this year’s event. The winning team will receive a tour of the State House provided by Newton’s state legislators.
