I had a long-standing problem with an extremely bright light shining at my house which appeared to be coming from a new building across the river in Watertown. My daughter suggested I contact Ward 1 Councilor Maria Scibelli Greenberg. Although Maria is not my ward councilor my daughter suggested that she had experience dealing with issues involving Watertown. I hoped Maria could point me in the right direction to get this problem resolved. Instead she took care of this herself, dealing directly with her Watertown Council counterpart, Steve Magoon, who in turn dealt with the building manager. All three put time and effort into resolving this. When the problem persisted Maria drove here one night to
investigate, and identified that the source of the light was not the Watertown building but a damaged street light here in Newton. She put in a request for the city to fix the light, which was done in a couple of days. Thank you so much Maria.
As far as constituent services go, this effort was way above and beyond the call of duty. Being in Ward 2 I am not even technically one of her constituents. But still she put in the time and effort to get this fixed for me. I want to publicly recognize her for that here, and to suggest to my Ward 1 neighbors how lucky they are to have Maria representing them.
