Halloween Window Painting flourishes in village shop windows

This weekend, over 370 student artists participated in Newton Cultural Development’s Halloween Window Painting event, now in its 23rd year. You can admire their work in the shop windows of Auburndale, Newton Centre, Newton Highlands, Newtonville, Nonantum, and West Newton. (Our photos in these links don’t do them justice. Please see them in person — and thank the local businesses for hosting these artists’ work!) If we missed — or messed up — taking a photo of your work, please send a photo of it to info@figcitynews.com and tell us in which village it is on display.

Halloween Window Painting is not Newton’s first Halloween community event. About 32 years ago, shortly after Linda Gulman opened her candy shop, Indulge!, in Newton Highlands, she reached out to other Highlands merchants to create “Trick or Treating in the Highlands.”
